Sebastian "Subby Fiume

1928 - 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce that Teamsters Local 671 has lost one of our oldest members.

Retiree Sebastian “Subby” Fiume passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the age of 91.

Subby has been a member of this Local Union for 64 years.  He was an active member for 34 years before retiring in 1990 as a driver for Consolidated Freight and was an active retiree for 30 years.

Subby volunteered when ever asked and sincerely believed in the union labor movement.  If he was needed for any reason to help with organizing, walking a picket line or protesting at a demonstration, there was no hesitation.

His generosity to help others didn’t stop there.  Subby was also one of the volunteers that stepped up every Christmas and collected toys for children that were less fortunate than others and was always at the Union Hall to help prepare for events.  We cannot recall a time when Subby was asked to help that he did not answer the call.

He was a member of the Local 671 Retiree’s Association Executive Board for many years where he continued to promote unionism and help others.

Subby made it very clear to everyone he spoke to that the Teamsters Union gave him and his family a quality of life that everyone deserves.  Without members like Subby the lifestyles, pensions and health benefits that we enjoy today would not have been possible.

Subby was very proud to be a member of Teamsters Local 671 and we are all very lucky to have known him.  We cannot begin to express how much he will be missed but he will always be fondly remembered.

Rest easy friend, you earned it.
